This is the heathy version of traditional Moong Daal Ladoo.

It is a savoury and crispy tea time snack.

Ingredients

  1. Germinated Green Moong Daal -  1 cup
  2. Boiled Potatoes – mashed 1 cup
  3. Besan 1 Tablespoon
  4. Arrowroot  or cornflour powder 1 Tablespoon
  5. Chaat Masala 1 tablespoon
  6. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  7. Salt  1 teaspoon ( as per taste)
  8. Jeera ( Dry roast it on a griddle pan first) 1 teaspoon
  9. Chopped Green chilli 1 tablespoon ( optional)
  10. Green Coriander ( finely chopped)  1 tablespoon
  11. Ginger Paste 1 tablespoon
  12. Oil for deep Frying
  13. Bread Crumbs two cups

 

Preparation

  1. Take a mixing boil
  2. Add the mashed and boiled potatoes
  3. Grind the moong daal to paste and  add it mashed potatoes
  4. Add  1 tablespoon of Besan
  5. Add 1 tablespoon of Cornflour powder ( or you can use  1 tablespoon of  Arrowroot Powder)
  6. Add red chilli powder
  7. Add Chaat Masala
  8. Add Salt
  9. Add Dry roasted Jeera
  10. Add Chopped Green Chilli
  11. Add Ginger Paste
  12. Add Chopped Green Coriander
  13. Mix all the ingredients well and make a dough like mixture.
  14. Now roll small balls ( the size of wallnuts)
  15. Take a bowl and add 1 cup of water and add   1 tablespoon of Cornflour in it and mix well.
  16. Take another bowl and put the bread crumbs in it.
  17. Dip  each dough ball in the cornflour water mixture and then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture so that the balls get coated evenly with breadcrumbs
  18. Add oil in a deep frying pan and fry the balls on medium heat until they turn golden.
  19. Take them out in a plate lined with paper napkins to soak the excess oil.

 

Serve  them  hot with any  readymade chutney.

For garnishing, sprinkle some more chaat masala on top and add some chopped green coriander

 

Variations: You can dip the dough balls in white sesame seeds instead of bread crumbs

You can shape the balls as flat ( like a cutlet) or you can roll them as small cylindrical shapes.
