Alloo Ka Halwa or Potato Halwa

Potato Halwa


  1. Potatoes 4 medium sized
  2. Desi Ghee 80 grams or you can use cooking oil as well.
  3. Sugar 80 grams
  4. Chopped Green Pistachio 1 tablespoon
  5. Chopped Almonds 1 tablespoon
  6. Chopped raw Cashews 1 tablespoon ( do not use salter or roaste cashews)
  7. Kishmish or Sultanas 1 tablespoon
  8. Green Cardamom Powder 1/4 teaspoon


  1. Boil the potatoes in a saucepan or Microwave them for 5 minutes.
  2. Once the potatoes cool down, mash or grate them.
  3. Take heavy bottomed pan and put it on medium heat.
  4. Add the Ghee or cooking oil.
  5. Add the Grated potatoes mixture.
  6. Stir and cook this till the Ghee starts separating from the potato mixture.
  7. Add sugar and stir continuously.
  8. Add the Green Cardamom Powder and stir for a minute.
  9. Remove the pan from the heat.
  10. Transfer the halwa to a serving dish.
  11. Garnish it with dry fruits.

Serve the hot halwa with tea (chai )
